What time should students and mentors arrive and expect to depart?
Students – Should arrive no later than 7:45am to allow ample time to check in and be seated by 8:00 a.m.
Mentors – Should arrive no later than 7:30 a.m.
Pick up after the Symposium is expected approximately 12:15 p.m.
Check in will be inside the main doors, and signs will direct you to the administration area of Tampa Prep School.
Does the Symposium have resources to accommodate parents or guardians?
Space is limited and meals are reserved for Symposium students and mentors only. If parents or guardians are providing transportation and want to stay in the area, a suggestion is that you may enjoy exploring the University of Tampa campus which is across the street from Tampa Prep School, or the downtown Tampa and Channelside areas.
Where should students and mentors park for those driving to the Symposium?
Tampa Prep School has more than adequate self-parking immediately off of Cass Street. There will be security to monitor the cars while the Symposium is being held. There is no charge for parking.
What is the dress code for students and mentors?
The dress code is business casual or Sunday best. Please: No t-shirts, tank tops, shorts, flip flops, jeans or mini-skirts. Please bring a jacket or sweater. The meeting rooms may be cold.
Who are the mentors for the day?
Our mentors are executive women from reputable organizations in the Tampa Bay area. Mentors will receive ample information regarding mentoring before event day. Mentors will share life and career experiences and encourage students to take initiative in their lives and communities. There will a minimum of one mentor per every four to five students.
Will food be provided for students and mentors?
Breakfast will be served, free of charge. Snacks and beverages will also be available throughout the Symposium. If there are any special needs (i.e. medical, dietary, etc.), please notify a Symposium representative at check-in.
Is there a registration fee for this Symposium?
No. There is no registration fee for students to attend. And, all materials will be provided to students at the Symposium.
Can students include the Symposium on their college admissions application?
Yes. Many students who have attended the Symposium in the past have included this event on their college applications.
Will cameras and/or video photography be allowed?
No one will be allowed to video tape the keynote presentation. However, students/mentors can use their cell phones to take photos if ample time allows and all parties agree.
Are cellular phones allowed at this event?
Yes. While phones are allowed on the campus, they should respectfully remain in “silent” mode during the event activities and only used on breaks. Each student will be asked for parent/guardian’s contact information upon arrival in the event of an emergency.
